The super-fast 5G communication protocol will lead to a tremendous advance in automobile technology. It will create a ground-breaking opportunity to reduce to a maximum degree the time interval between the driver's command and its performance by the automobile. One such example is seeing the obstacle and pressing the brake pedal.
This, however, is only a small portion of the benefits 5G will provide to automobiles. As a whole, the protocol will be extremely useful for vehicle automation with regard to their interaction with moving and still objects and timely sending of an alarm signal. As automated operations need to be implemented using wireless data transfer, the transfer speed must be ultra fast. In the 5G network, it is exactly that, which is approx. 100 times faster than 4G.
Some new functions of automobiles in the near future will include the following:
- Cars will be able to communicate with each other, as well as with road signs;
- It will now be possible to see obstacles behind the corner, such as pedestrians, repairs, etc.;
- Option for seeing from a distance – the automobile will receive data from forward-facing cameras on cars in front of it.
What will certainly change is that in the future, we will have the freedom to fully trust our automated automobile while riding, and do things like reading, working or even sleeping, and then seamlessly arrive at the desired destination.
